Our friend tidying up his feathers also reminds me of Dennis`s pre-flight inspections of the little Cessna he flew in flight school. Walking around the craft fiddling with the control surfaces etc. is not so different from the bird on pier piling at the marina.

The thought of seabirds preening on the moorings in the morning is something that always reminds me of the warm Caribbean islands and Gulf Coast when the snow is deep in Michigan.
